The San Antonio Essentials Pass at a glance

The San Antonio Essentials Pass includes three entries. You take one from the first group: SeaWorld San Antonio, the Aquatica water park or the Outdoor Discovery Package at Natural Bridge Caverns. The other two come from the second group, which includes the GO RIO boat ride on the San Antonio River, the Tower of the Americas, a guided missions tour, the Witte Museum, the Buckhorn Saloon with the Texas Ranger Museum, the zoo and the Botanical Garden.

The Essentials Pass is the only Go City product for San Antonio. So the only test is how it compares with separate tickets. Natural Bridge Caverns, outside the city towards New Braunfels, appears twice on the list: the bigger package in the first group and the Discovery Tour in the second.

The pass is valid for 30 days from the first scan. You can return it to Go City free of charge for up to 90 days after purchase, as long as you have not used it.

The attractions you can choose from

The missions tour, the Historic Highlights City Tour and the Tejas Rodeo Company need a time slot from the Go City App. You can visit everything else, including SeaWorld and Aquatica, without a reservation.

How to use the San Antonio Essentials Pass

  1. Buy online

    You book with Go City and receive a confirmation by email.

  2. Set up the app

    Download the Go City App, enter your confirmation code, and the pass is on your phone. Setting it up does not activate it yet.

  3. Reserve time slots

    You need a set time for: San Antonio Missions UNESCO World Heritage Site Tour, San Antonio Historic Highlights City Tour, Tejas Rodeo Company. You book it in the app at no extra cost.

  4. Scan at the entrance

    Your first scan starts the 30 days of validity.

What the San Antonio Essentials Pass does not cover

  • Public transport: you pay for VIA buses separately.
  • The Alamo is not in the pass. You can enter the church for free, though.
  • You can also visit the missions, such as Mission San José, for free. The pass includes a guided tour, not the entry.
  • Six Flags Fiesta Texas is not part of any Go City product in San Antonio.

When the pass is not worth it

The child pass is barely cheaper than the adult one, and at SeaWorld and Aquatica children pay the full price for single tickets too. With the boat ride, the Witte Museum and the Tower of the Americas in the second group, little is left over, and for children almost nothing. The pass pays off with the zoo, the missions tour or the Discovery Tour in the caves. And if you want to go to neither one of the parks nor the caves, you do not need it at all, because one entry has to come from the first group.

Frequently asked questions

How long is the San Antonio Essentials Pass valid?

It runs for 30 days from your first visit. Buying it and setting it up in the app does not start the clock.

Can I cancel the pass for free?

Yes, with Go City within 90 days of purchase, as long as you have not used the pass. After the first scan there is no refund.

Why is Natural Bridge Caverns in the pass twice?

Go City lists two different products: the Outdoor Discovery Package in the first group and the Discovery Tour in the second. The app shows exactly what each one includes. If you take both, you use two entries on one trip.

Is Aquatica open all year?

No, the water park is seasonal. Check the opening days for your travel dates before buying; otherwise only SeaWorld and Natural Bridge Caverns are left in the first group.

Is the pass worth it?

You save the most with SeaWorld or the caves package plus the missions tour and the zoo. With the boat ride, the Witte Museum and the Tower of the Americas you pay about the same as separately. The calculator above shows your selection.

What do children pay?

Children aged 3 to 12 get their own pass, but it is only a little cheaper than the adult one. From 13 the adult price applies.

Can I get into the Alamo with the pass?

The Alamo is not included. But you can visit the church for free, so you do not need a pass for it.

Are buses included?

No, you pay for VIA buses separately. For Natural Bridge Caverns outside the city you need a car.
