The Dubai Essentials Pass at a glance

The Dubai Essentials Pass includes three entries. You choose one from the top group: At The Top at the Burj Khalifa, the Aquaventure water park at Atlantis The Palm, IMG Worlds of Adventure, Motiongate or Ferrari World. The other two come from the second group with a desert safari, Dubai Frame, Ski Dubai, the Dubai Aquarium in Dubai Mall, the Lost Chambers and boat trips in Dubai Marina.

Ferrari World and Warner Bros. World are not in Dubai but on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. The day trip to the highlights of Abu Dhabi is also in the second group. If you are planning a day in Abu Dhabi anyway, you can use two of the three entries there.

The pass is valid for 30 days from your first visit. Go City shows prices for Dubai in US dollars. You get your money back for up to 90 days after purchase, as long as you have not used the pass.

The attractions you can choose from

The sights in the top group need no time slot. The desert safari, the buggy ride, Dubai Frame, the Marina boat trips, the city tour, the caravanserai dinner and the Abu Dhabi trip, on the other hand, only work with a reservation, which you make through Go City after buying.

How to use the Dubai Essentials Pass

  1. Buy online

    You book with Go City and receive a confirmation by email.

  2. Set up the app

    Download the Go City App, enter your confirmation code, and the pass is on your phone. Setting it up does not activate it yet.

  3. Reserve time slots

    You need a set time for Dubai Frame, Caravanserai Dinner Under the Stars in Dubai, Dubai Marina Luxury Yacht Tour with Breakfast or BBQ and a few other places, among others. The list above shows which ones. Reservations are made in the app at no extra cost.

  4. Scan at the entrance

    Your first scan starts the 30 days of validity.

What the Dubai Essentials Pass does not cover

  • You pay for the metro, trams and buses separately; the pass does not include public transport. You arrange the journey to Abu Dhabi yourself, except on the guided day trip.
  • LEGOLAND Dubai, the LEGOLAND Water Park and Yas Waterworld in Abu Dhabi are only in the Explorer Pass, not the Essentials Pass.
  • Water sports such as jetsurf, e-foil and kayaking at Palm Jumeirah and the quad bike tour in the desert are in the Explorer Pass, not here.
  • The airport transfer from DXB and diving in Fujairah belong to the Explorer Pass.

When the pass is not worth it

For three sights the Essentials Pass is cheaper than the Explorer Pass, and everything it includes is also in the Explorer. But it only pays off with the expensive sights. If you take the Burj Khalifa as your anchor sight plus Dubai Frame and Sky Views, you pay less with separate tickets. For families there is another point: the child pass is barely cheaper than the adult one, and at Ski Dubai, IMG Worlds and Motiongate children pay as much as adults without a pass.

Frequently asked questions

How long is the Dubai Essentials Pass valid?

It runs for 30 days from your first visit. So you can buy the pass before your trip; the clock only starts with the first scan.

Can I cancel the pass for free?

Yes, with Go City within 90 days of purchase, as long as you have not used it. After the first scan there is no refund.

Why is the pass priced in US dollars?

Go City sells the Dubai passes in dollars, not in dirhams or euros. If you pay with a card in another currency, your bank may charge a fee for the conversion.

Burj Khalifa or a theme park as the anchor sight?

Without a pass, the theme parks and Aquaventure cost much more than At The Top at the Burj Khalifa. So you get the most value with a park, and the Burj Khalifa only makes sense if none of the parks appeals to you.

Are all the sights in Dubai?

No. Ferrari World and Warner Bros. World are on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, and there is also the day trip to Abu Dhabi. All the other sights are in Dubai.

Do I need to reserve the desert safari?

Yes. The desert safari, the buggy ride, the caravanserai dinner and the Marina boat trips only run at set times. Reserve through Go City as soon as your travel dates are fixed.

What do children pay?

Children aged 3 to 12 get their own pass; from 13 the adult pass applies. The gap to the adult price is small, because many sights in Dubai charge children almost the full price too.

Is the Dubai Metro in the pass?

No. You pay for the metro, trams and buses separately, as well as taxis to the theme parks.

Plan with a park as your anchor sight

First decide on your anchor sight, ideally one of the parks or Aquaventure. Then reserve the desert safari or a boat trip for an evening when you have nothing else planned.
