The Barcelona Essentials Pass at a glance

With the Barcelona Essentials Pass you get three entries. You choose one from the top group: the guided tour of the Sagrada Família, Casa Batlló on the Passeig de Gràcia, the flamenco show at Palau Dalmases or a day on the hop-on hop-off bus. The other two come from the second group, for example Park Güell, Casa Vicens, Torre Bellesguard, the Recinte Modernista de Sant Pau or the Mirador Torre Glòries.

Gaudí runs through both groups. With the Sagrada Família, Park Güell and Casa Vicens you get three of his buildings in one pass. The Sagrada Família and Casa Batlló are in the same group, though, so you can only do both with the Explorer or the All-Inclusive Pass.

The pass is valid for 30 days from your first visit. Go City gives you a full refund for up to 90 days after purchase, as long as you have not used it.

The attractions you can choose from

The Sagrada Família, Park Güell, the flamenco show and the Santa Maria del Mar tour only run with a time slot. You reserve it through Go City once the pass is in the app; for the Sagrada Família it is best to do this right after buying.

How to use the Barcelona Essentials Pass

  1. Buy online

    You book with Go City and receive a confirmation by email.

  2. Set up the app

    Download the Go City App, enter your confirmation code, and the pass is on your phone. Setting it up does not activate it yet.

  3. Reserve time slots

    You need a set time for: Flamenco Show at Palau Dalmases, Sagrada Familia Guided Tour, Basilica de Santa Maria Del Mar Tour, Park Güell Visit with Hosted Entry. You book it in the app at no extra cost.

  4. Scan at the entrance

    Your first scan starts the 30 days of validity.

What the Barcelona Essentials Pass does not cover

  • You pay for the metro, buses and trams separately; the pass does not include public transport.
  • La Pedrera (Casa Milà) and the Barcelona Aquarium are only in the All-Inclusive Pass, as are PortAventura and the trips to Girona, Figueres and Andorra.
  • The Spotify Camp Nou tour, the Picasso Museum guided tour and the bus transfer to Montserrat are in the Explorer and the All-Inclusive Pass, not the Essentials Pass.
  • In the Essentials Pass the Sagrada Família and Casa Batlló rule each other out, because both are in the top group.

When the pass is not worth it

Here the Essentials Pass is cheaper than the three-attraction Explorer Pass and contains the same sights. But it only pays off with an expensive anchor sight. If you take Casa Batlló plus two of the smaller houses such as Torre Bellesguard or Sant Pau, separate tickets work out cheaper. If you want to see Camp Nou, the Picasso Museum or Montserrat, you need the Explorer Pass anyway.

Frequently asked questions

How long is the Barcelona Essentials Pass valid?

It is valid for 30 days from your first visit. The clock starts with the first scan, not with the purchase.

Can I cancel the pass for free?

Yes, with Go City within 90 days of purchase, as long as you have not used the pass. If you bought it from another seller, their rules apply.

Is the Sagrada Família a regular entry?

No, the pass includes a guided tour at a set time. You reserve it through Go City and can only get in at the booked time.

Can I combine the Sagrada Família and Casa Batlló?

Not in the Essentials Pass: both belong to the top group, where you choose only one sight. For both you need the Explorer Pass or a standalone ticket.

How does entry to Park Güell work?

You get an accompanied entry at a set time, which you reserve in advance. Without a time slot you cannot get into the paid part of the park.

What do children pay?

Children aged 4 to 12 get their own, cheaper pass; from 13 the adult pass applies. For some sights, such as Casa Batlló and Casa Vicens, Go City lists no child price. Check before buying whether children get in free there anyway; if so, the child pass is better used on other sights.

Is La Pedrera in the pass?

Only in the All-Inclusive Pass. It is not in the Essentials or the Explorer Pass.

Is the hop-on hop-off bus worth it as an anchor sight?

Without a pass it costs less than the Sagrada Família or Casa Batlló. As an anchor sight it gets the least out of the pass, but in return you can ride all over the city for a day.
